Artist's Description
2 heron nests in a rookery at the UW Arboretum, Madison, WI. In the upper nest you can see one adult and a youngster; in the lower nest you can se 4 fledglings, waiting for a parent to come back with food. I also have photos of the same nest from last year, where the chicks are quite young. This photo is also available as a black and white image
About Steven Ralser
I am a nature and landscape photographer based in Madison, WI, with images from around the world. I am originally from Australia, but have lived in New Brunswick, Canada, and Socorro, New Mexico, before moving to Madison. I am trained as a geologist, and still teach introductory geology classes (need to pay the bills somehow).. The love of the outdoors has strongly influenced my photography, initially in Australia, but then in the the NW Territories of Canada (I was there doing geology), and the desert of New Mexico.
