There is a small creek behind my father-in-law's place in Cape Neddick, Maine. On winter, before the snow, this creek was frozen with incredible clear ice. The whole creek in this image is covered with ice - optically clear ice at the top, and more opaque ice growing from the side of the creek. You can see the old fall leaves on the creek bed, a well as the reflections of trees on the ice. Remember Ice is a mineral.
I am a nature and landscape photographer based in Madison, WI, with images from around the world. I am originally from Australia, but have lived in New Brunswick, Canada, and Socorro, New Mexico, before moving to Madison. I am trained as a geologist, and still teach introductory geology classes (need to pay the bills somehow).. The love of the outdoors has strongly influenced my photography, initially in Australia, but then in the the NW Territories of Canada (I was there doing geology), and the desert of New Mexico. Now I find the beauty around where I live in Madison. If you live in the Madison area, contact me, and I can print images for you (save on postage).
