Description
The day after the Packers won the Superbowl, we had a very big snow fall (18" or so), which shut down the city. In commemoration of the win the dome of the Capitol was lit up in green and yellow (presumably for the packers, although those are the colors for both Australia and brazil). After taking photos of the Capitol (available here), I turned around and took this hdr image of a deserted State Street. I decided it would make a much better black and white image. A lot of people wonder when it was taken (they all think it is older than it really is), and it also reminds people of the film 'it's a wonderful life'.
State Street is a popular pedestrian mall located in downtown Madison, Wisconsin. It stretches from the Wisconsin State Capitol building to the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus and is lined with shops, restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues.
State Street is a major cultural hub in the city, featuring many historic buildings, street performers, and public events throughout the year. It is also home to several landmarks, including the Overture Center for the Arts, the Orpheum Theater, and the Memorial Union Terrace.
The street has a lively atmosphere with a mix of students, residents, and visitors enjoying the various offerings. It's a great place to explore the local culture, shop, dine, and experience the vibrant energy of Madison.
