The spring which is the source for the Pheasant Branch Creek in the Pheasant Branch Conservancy, Middleton, Wisconsin. The upsetting water creates spring boils in which water pressure is great enough to cause a turbulent discharge that is visible in this photo.

I am a nature and landscape photographer based in Madison, WI, with images from around the world. I am originally from Australia, but have lived in New Brunswick, Canada, and Socorro, New Mexico, before moving to Madison. I am trained as a geologist, and still teach introductory geology classes (need to pay the bills somehow).. The love of the outdoors has strongly influenced my photography, initially in Australia, but then in the the NW Territories of Canada (I was there doing geology), and the desert of New Mexico.
