A statue of John Simpson and his donkey carrying a wounded soldier. Simpson would recover wounded soldiers form the battlefield at Gallipoli with his donkey. This statue is outside the War Memorial in Canberra, Australia. The red poppies are used to commemorate servicemen and women killed in all conflicts.
I am a nature and landscape photographer based in Madison, WI, with images from around the world. I am originally from Australia, but have lived in New Brunswick, Canada, and Socorro, New Mexico, before moving to Madison. I am trained as a geologist, and still teach introductory geology classes (need to pay the bills somehow).. The love of the outdoors has strongly influenced my photography, initially in Australia, but then in the the NW Territories of Canada (I was there doing geology), and the desert of New Mexico.
