A number of years ago I had the opportunity to go to El Salvador for short while to map the geology of the road cuts of the then new Pan-American Highway. I took numerous non geologic photos as well. In this photo I am on top of roadcut looking down at an ice cream seller walking down the road. He is carrying a cooler, has a bunch of cups, and a bell in one hand. This was one of my favorite phots from the trip.
I am a nature and landscape photographer based in Madison, WI, with images from around the world. I am originally from Australia, but have lived in New Brunswick, Canada, and Socorro, New Mexico, before moving to Madison. I am trained as a geologist, and still teach introductory geology classes (need to pay the bills somehow).. The love of the outdoors has strongly influenced my photography, initially in Australia, but then in the the NW Territories of Canada (I was there doing geology), and the desert of New Mexico. Now I find the beauty around where I live in Madison. If you live in the Madison area, contact me, and I can print images for you (save on postage).

Terrific perspective and minimal result - love the way the subtle diagonals of the road surface work in this one and the shapes created by the shadow and light. This is one of my two Picks of the Day in the Best of Minimalism in Photography group for November 18.
