the marshall field & co. clock at washington and state, installed in 1897 (126 years ago). it’s twin is at randolph and state- that one was installed in 1904. these clocks are bronze and weigh 7 tons each. the clock faces are 46 inches across and the minute hands are 27 inches long. since 2009, the clocks have been synchronized 4 times a day via gps. in 1945, the clock at randolph and state was immortalized as a chicago symbol when norman rockwell painted it for the cover of the november 3rd edition of the saturday evening post.
I am a nature and landscape photographer based in Madison, WI, with images from around the world. I am originally from Australia, but have lived in New Brunswick, Canada, and Socorro, New Mexico, before moving to Madison. I am trained as a geologist, and still teach introductory geology classes (need to pay the bills somehow).. The love of the outdoors has strongly influenced my photography, initially in Australia, but then in the the NW Territories of Canada (I was there doing geology), and the desert of New Mexico. Now I find the beauty around where I live in Madison. If you live in the Madison area, contact me, and I can print images for you (save on postage).
