Description
A canyon in the Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument, west of the Rio Grande between Albuquerque and Santa Fe in New Mexico. The walls are composed of volcaniclastic sediments resulting form the eruption in Jemez Volcanic field about 6-7 million years ago. Hoodoos (also known as tent rocks) are characterized by having a very resistant cap rock at the top. This cap rock protects the pillar from being eroded away.
